A proxy port is the number your tool connects to on the proxy’s host. Some ports are used by convention, but your provider’s port is always the one that counts.
A port is a numbered door on a server. A proxy listens on one or more ports, and you tell your tool which port to use together with the proxy’s host name, for example host.example.com:8080. Different ports can serve different protocols, such as HTTP or SOCKS5.
| Port | Typical use |
|---|---|
| 80 | HTTP, the standard web port, sometimes used by HTTP proxies |
| 443 | HTTPS, sometimes used by proxies to pass through restrictive networks |
| 3128 | Default port of the Squid proxy server |
| 8080 | Very common alternative HTTP and HTTP proxy port |
| 8000, 8888 | Alternative HTTP proxy ports |
| 8118 | Default port of Privoxy |
| 1080 | Default SOCKS port |
| 9050 | Default SOCKS port of Tor |
These are conventions, not rules. A proxy can use any port.
Use the port from your provider. In the Flexyproxies dashboard every generated line contains host, port, username and password, and the port depends on the protocol you choose. If you pick SOCKS5, use the SOCKS5 line, not the HTTP one.
